Welcome to Morning Calm Birthing Services!

Morning Calm Birthing was founded in 2014 to assist English-speaking families having a baby in Korea. In the past ten years, we have supported over 500 families, helping them find trusted care providers, understand their options, draft their birth preferences, and offering evidence-based, up-to-date information on all things pregnancy and birth, as well as hands-on support before and during birth, and in the early postpartum days.

Owner Adele Vitale is a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula (CBI), Childbirth Educator (CBI), Dunstan Baby Language Educator, and trained HypnoBirthing® Instructor. In 2015, she became a Trainer for Childbirth International (CBI), leading certification courses for Birth and Postpartum Doulas and Childbirth Educators. Since 2024, Adele has also been serving as the Doula Team Leader and in-house Childbirth Educator at Houm OBGYN in Seoul.

Contrary to popular belief, birthing services are valuable not only to parents planning a natural birth, but also to those who want to avail themselves of medical pain relief and interventions — and even for planned C-sections! As mothers and expats who have lived in Korea for a number of years and had their babies here, the team at Morning Calm Birthing are especially suited to support clients from the early stages of pregnancy to the early newborn days, and beyond.

Services include:
Childbirth Education Courses (Group and Private);
Professional Labour Support (Doula Services);
Postpartum Support;
Dunstan Baby Language Classes (Group and Private);
Pre- and Post-natal consultations (in person or online).

Morning Calm Birthing Services is based in Busan, but online support is available to families nationwide.

An increasing number of international insurance companies now refund our services, in recognition of the positive impact that prenatal education and labour support have on birth outcomes (such as fewer medical interventions, including C-sections, and higher satisfaction with the overall birth experience). Please check with your insurance provider whether you’re eligible for coverage. Direct billing is not available at this time.

Morning Calm Birthing Service is an Inclusive and Body Positive Practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What’s the difference between a doula and a midwife?

A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support before, during, and shortly after birth. A midwife is a medical provider who manages your clinical care in certain settings, such as a birthing center or home birth. Think of your doula as a supportive guide and advocate—someone by your side to help you feel informed, confident, and calm throughout the process.

2. When should I hire a doula?

Most families choose to hire a doula during the second trimester to allow time to build a relationship and plan for birth. However, it’s never too early or too late—just send an email to check for availability!

3. Do you support hospital births, home births, and birth centers?

Yes! We support all birth settings, and work with your chosen care team whether you’re birthing at home, in a hospital, or at a birth center. Our role is to ensure you feel supported and empowered, no matter where or how you give birth.

4. How far do you travel for births, postpartum support, and childbirth education?

We currently offer in-person services in Busan and surrounding area (Gimhae, Geoje, Daegu, Ulsan), based on availability. For childbirth education, traveling classes can be arranged for a minimum of 3 couples.

5. What’s included in childbirth education, and why is it important?

Our childbirth education classes cover everything from the stages of labor to pain relief options, hospital procedures, postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn basics. Whether it’s your first birth or your fourth, education helps you feel informed, reduce fear, and make choices that align with your values and preferences.
